Leadership Programs

At Penn Cannon Group, we believe that the future of higher education will be shaped by leaders who embrace their roles as stewards of human potential. Leaders who cultivate the conditions for transformative learning - not just for students, but for themselves and their institutions. Leaders who approach the complex challenges of the academy with curiosity, compassion, and a deep commitment to collective wisdom.

For over a decade, we have been partnering with institutions to grow this kind of leadership. Our programs are not off-the-shelf solutions. They are intentional spaces of encounter, designed to nurture the unique capacity of each leader and each campus community.

We begin by listening deeply to the aspirations and opportunities of the institution. The hopes and fears of its people. The values and assumptions woven into its culture. From this understanding, we craft experiences that invite leaders into courageous conversation with themselves and each other:

  • Retreats that foster authentic connection and shared purpose across roles and divisions

  • Workshops that challenge limiting beliefs and expand the sense of what's possible

  • Ongoing circles of support that celebrate successes and metabolize setbacks

In these spaces, leaders come to see their own growth as integral to the growth of their institutions. They build the self-awareness to recognize how their ways of thinking and being shape the systems around them. They develop the relational courage to have the conversations that matter most, even when they're uncomfortable.

Most importantly, they come to embrace their own humanity - their doubts and dreams, their strengths and shadows - as the foundation for leading with authenticity and care.

Through this work, we have seen remarkable transformations. Provosts who lead academic innovation with a renewed sense of purpose. Student affairs professionals who approach campus crises with groundedness and grace. Deans who cultivate vibrant learning communities among faculty and staff.

These leaders understand that the work of leadership is, at its core, the work of learning. The work of growing the institution's collective capacity to navigate the unknown, to have hard conversations, to imagine futures beyond the status quo. The work of tending to the human heart of the academic enterprise.

This is the work we are called to at Penn Cannon. With humility and hope, we walk alongside higher education leaders as they embark on this lifelong journey of growth. We bear witness to their struggles and triumphs. We nurture the seeds of transformation in each individual and each institution we serve.

We do this because we believe deeply in the power of higher learning to elevate the human condition. We know that for colleges and universities to fulfill this promise in a time of profound change, they need leaders who are themselves committed to profound inner change. Leaders who approach their roles not as technicians, but as servants. As human beings in service to the human beings in their care.

This is the paradigm of leadership higher education needs now. A paradigm grounded in care, in courage, and in the innate capacity of people and institutions to grow. At Penn Cannon, we are honored to be partners in making higher learning an enduring source of social progress and human flourishing.
